Since sheet metal parts are made from a single metal sheet, the part must maintain uniform wall thickness throughout.
 
We recommend a sheet metal thickness range of 0.5–18 mm (0.02–0.7087 in) for laser cutting, and 0.5–20 mm (0.02–0.7874 in) for bending.
Sheet metal fabrication tolerances are often slightly larger than those of CNC machining. This is because material stretching can occur during bending.
It's important to note that the more processes a part goes through—such as having multiple bends—the harder it becomes to achieve tight tolerances.
We provide the tolerances shown on the right, which are widely accepted in the industry. While tighter tolerances can be achieved, extremely tight ones will increase process difficulty and significantly raise costs.

When bending metal, the material stretches—this shifts the neutral axis away from the center. To design an accurate flat pattern and determine the correct bend allowance, calculate the K-factor to locate the neutral axis along the bend. 
Keep interior bend radii at least equal to material thickness.
When bending sheet metal, a completely sharp corner can't be achieved—there will always be a slight curve, known as the bend radius.
To avoid distortion around the bend, design parts so the interior bend radius is equal to or larger than the material thickness.
